I play guitar.
I learned the
basics from my grandfather who played and taught banjo, guitar,
mandolin, and Hawaiian guitar back in the twenties, thirties, and
forties. He started to teach me in 1966, when I was seven.
I've been playing
professionally (more or less) for more than 35 years, and I've played
in many different types of bands. Spent some time in NYC and in
Los Angeles, playing in all the worst placesMadame Wong's
East in L.A. Chinatown stands out, although its bathroom can't compare
with CBGB's. These days, it's mostly jazz and klezmer in the more
rarified atmosphere of book stores, cafes, and colleges.
I have a B.A.
in Music from Haverford College, and I've studied with some pretty
good people (besides Grandpa), most notably Harry Leahy (jazz) and
Peter Segal (classical).
I'm currently
concentrating on some new pieces, destined for a new CD.
